bleaching a patch of black-dyed hair?

i bleach my hair once a month and i may be the only one but i think damaged hair is awesome, i can do so much more with my hair and its way more pliable

This is going to sound stupid, but pure pigment (like L'Oreal hi-color or any other pure color permanent pigment, like bright purple or blue permanent) added to your bleach will help to cut through the black. Don't ask me why, it just does. The girls in our shop do this all the freaking time. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own two eyes.

Any idea what the proportions are of pigment to bleach that they use?

I've been box dyeing for years and I want to go back to red but everyone's telling me box dye and then bleach with make my hair melt off my head. I have bleached small sections of my dyed hair before with no breakage, but tha fear is still in me!
