When I first saw the title I thought it was how to make hemming pants, as in the adjective. I was wondering what the hell hemming pants were!

Yea my mom hems pants all the time,since my family is so short it helps tremendously.

Until now my grandma always hemmed(sp?) our pants because she's a sewing-genius... now I can try on my own and impress her!

Same here! It's hard for me to find pants I like (both for comfort and looks), and even harder to get em the right damn length!

i've never hemmed anything by hand so this is really cool. now i dont have to wake up the whole house with my noisy machine

Thought I would add this, for those of us with sewing machines, with at least a zig-zag stitch, if not a blind-hem stitch. I've never used it for the purpose, hehe I thought it was just a decorative stitch, but I think I"ll try it out on a pair of pants my dad asked me to fix the hem on. Will post pics if it works, otherwise doing the by-hand way posted here, just way easier!
